Preparation for the next event

Life has been getting back to normal levels slowly.
The feeling of complete and utter tiredness is fading a bit. Which is just as well. In two weeks and a half weeks time we’ll get the key to our new place. Move is two weeks after that.

What we are finding is that sorting out all the address changes is a huge undertaking. That and keeping tabs on all people involved (solicitor, estate agent, seller, buyer, kitchen people, parents, tax department, utilities, etc) is quite a project management skill.
Part of the issue of course is that they all need to be informed about your change of address, but all require different time limits. Some have minimum times, some have maximum times before the move.

Then of course there are the weirder accounts. We have decided that our cable will be started at the new place in my name, not SO’s. The reason is simple. An account botch up between our address and an other very similar and close by address (only the letters in our postal code are different) meant that SO has been somewhat unknown with the cable company. We’d like to keep it that way.

We are trying to take everything into our stride and plod nicely along where possible. Stress is now well off the cards and I think it is very good that we are still working for two weeks. It gives us the chance of winding down a bit, without immediately plummeting into the next big project.

Oh and of course a pre-warning. Our internet access will be lost from 18 August (early morning) and back on approximately 48 hours later – at least that is what they said. We will see if the promises made will be fulfilled.

About Gilraen

My blog is simply about my life. I moved countries for the first time in 1993. I lived in the Netherlands, UK and NZ. The initial idea was to keep my overseas friends up-to-date with what was going on in my life. The blog, like me, is always changing and evolving.
