SO is on the last leg of his studies and they are at his place of work. He is staying in the hotel as an additional two hours a day would be a bit too much This weekend I joined him.

6 people in the group plus me went boating in Leiden We took the boat out to the kaager plassen. It is a n electrical boat. Silent and never fast. They are also open Nowhere to hide and it was hot. Summer had finally arrived. The breeze made it quite nice though. The group consisted of us two, a Canadian, an America, two Germans and one student assistant (Dutch), two boats and lots of sunscreen.

As a good boating trip requires the mature students descended into studenthood. This manifested itself with spontaneous water fights. Which were clearly won by us, when the paddle was taken out and the other boat nearly crashed into other boats. Of course this idea came from the Canadian that had quite literally jumped ship half way down the lake. Later he jumped back again.

With 7 people, one studying to become and engineer, all other engineering type people. one is bound to get into different interpretations of the same thing happening. As a result one boat decided to go one way back and we decided to press ahead. Mind you we had asked a local, we were much more certain. We were also right. So we headed back to Leiden and had a nice stretch there. The others had to be picked up from the North Sea – no not really, but they did see the error of their ways and had turned around. In the end they were half an hour late.

Afterward we had a BBQ were thankfully more partners were present. It was cool meeting the people that my SO had been spending so much time with. I staying at the hotel and went home in the morning. It is hot hot hot again

About Gilraen

My blog is simply about my life. I moved countries for the first time in 1993. I lived in the Netherlands, UK and NZ. The initial idea was to keep my overseas friends up-to-date with what was going on in my life. The blog, like me, is always changing and evolving.
