Our last NZ day of course has to be special,. So what to do? Well you go an work on a deer farm of course. My friends C&M own a deer farm just north of Auckland, They only have to go there in the weekend and we were invited to join. SO has met C&M before when they visited the Netherlands a few years back. We left relatively early and drove to their place. There we changed into their car and an hour later we were just outside Wellsford at the entrance. Then there is a long road to get to their gate. C showed us the size of the farm by driving on to the next farm gate. Right. All in all they own about 80 hectares and all is hilly. some parts are forested, some are just grass. The farm tow small herds of cattle and two large hers of deer. All need to change paddock and you do that by walking behind them at a nice pace and guide them through an open gate to the next paddock. Given the size of the farm and 4 herds that need to be moved and some deer jumping out hand having to redo everything it is a warm and longish walk up and down hill. Next the men went to repair the water hose and drove the tractor. We women too charge of the pest control. Another walk around the farm in a different way. Of course we talked a lot and learned a fair bit along the way and got our exercise. We even got more colour as t was a sunny day.
Around 16.30 we packed up our stuff and drove to Auckland the other way and had an early friendly dinner. SO remained stylish and ordered the venison. It was so relaxed and fun, but we could not stay late as we still have to finish packing. Tomorrow we are heading out to the airport, return the car an end our honeymoon. Just our return trip remains, It is sad to leave again, but I am glad that we are going to our own home again. But a wonderful holiday is drawing to a close.
