Getting toward the end of my journey

Friday now and we are getting close to the end of the meeting schedule Tomorrow afternoon we will start our return trip.

I am tired, in fact I am very tired. I love people, I love being around people, but they are also an energy drain. So now that I am tired I feel that my patience with some people is waning. It doesn’t help that the humidity is high, which is something I do not like. This morning we were in a meeting room without windows and after being in there with 22 people for a few hours also without oxygen. We were totally stuffed getting out of there and we have to go back in this afternoon. I talked to the organising committee and requested to have another meeting room with windows that we can open. They’d look into it.

If I am fair it has been a mixed trip. I loved seeing a lot of the people. The hotel room was good (despite the airco stuck on 27°C centrally) The meeting rooms good for the most part. The helpfulness of the organising committee, a well organised dinner and presentation on Korea including some books

They also organised a bus to interesting points. Unfortunately one was to another Hotel with Duty Free shopping. Why unfortunately? Well duty free shopping ceased at 7pm, we arrived at 6.55om. The hotel is also famous for its casino, but we were not into that. We ended up in one of the hotel restaurants whose best feature was, not our own hotel. The bus though looked as if it had been designed by Versace (Donatella) and though a little too much for me I actually found it cheerful.

The day prior we went to see a waterfall. Not only was that more fun we also ended up eating at a local place and having a grand meal for €7 Now that was a good trip. Also the weather has not helped. This island is supposed to have a subtropical climate. All people therefore are totally underdressed for the weather. We’ve been quite cold!

One of the funniest things are the people at breakfast and over lunch They simply cannot cope with the number of people that come in and basically sit together though they do not come in together. No no restaurant is full. No it is not – my friend sits there another bloody european passing the poor poor staff. Funny as hell They’ve also given up on bringing coffee as they normally would The rude Europeans can’t wait for the black stuff so have taken to hogging the coffee machine. The only machine dispensing some black stuff remotely resembling coffee. The stuff we have at break is water with a colour that most resembles a strong tea. but the muffins are good. Poor staff.

I think my main gripe is that there is so little to do on your own everything is a taxi ride away and you have to take the bus to a predetermined place to get to do anything decent. Just one more night to go, nearly there. Next year will be Paris. I think that part will be better. At least there is a lot to do.
