Soggy, wet and happy

The whole day it has been raining, and a few days before as well . In fact the last few days the river has been shut off from the main city for fear of flooding in the old city. Basically they do this when the water level is high and a lot of rain is expected. The pumping stations have nowhere to pump the water and by shutting off the city the only water to enter the city canals is the rain. Sure the water can’t go out of the city, but the pressure from the river also stays out. The river is then forced to flood the water bedding and reservoir areas instead of our home.

So with the rain we did not feel like going out much, but after much deliberation SO and I did go out for a run/bike. Only 5km but we did it. The first km was fine and we thought we’ll make it 7-10km. The we hit the rain, which turned into monsoon type rain. We got soaked to the point that you feel it is an advantage being soaked as you can’t get any wetter. My sweatpants were foaming form residual soap that stays in cloth. My vision was impaired as the water was streaming off my glasses.

After 5km we were home again. Soggy cold, wet and extremely smug that we did it. As soon as we got home I put the sweet, nut and raisin bread that was rising in the oven. Next there is the bath and then maybe some sewing and dinner with friends tonight. So it is a good day. We got to watch the All Blacks beat Argentina. We overcame our weather inhibition and we got out. Felling sooooooooo good now.

  1. Sometimes it’s good to get out and not let the rain beat you! Well done! 🙂
