Going Nuts

It has been a hard week. A day in Brussels, with lovely weather, another in Utrecht. In both cases it was a case of early rise and late home. I knew upfront that it was going to be a hard few days, so I took Friday off. Still going nuts.

See my sewing buddy came over the other day and gave me a full bag of walnuts, and I still had some more left in the cupboard. So knowing I had Friday off I decided I would try my hand at some baking. Then I found out some good news about work (project approved) and I needed to get some energy out as I was feeling happy and very very jumpy. Plus in a flash of sheer madness I pomised my workmates I’d bring in some cake to celebrates the project approval.

So after a spongecake I set out to crack some nuts. s Hours later I really really had had it with those nuts. It was harder work than I had anticipated. Next on my baking calender was  a cake with caramelised walnuts, which was real fun to make. Last but certainly not least, currently in the oven are bran, banana and walnut muffins. So now I am all baked out. I really love getting rid of excess energy this way, but I am glad that it is effectively gone.

Tonight SO will be home and he needs some real TLC as he came down with a stomach bug whilst away on a business trip. Poor thing, it is bad enough to have bowels in a twist when you are at home, but he had to call in sick whilst in a hotel. I am hoping to make it up to him some way when he gets home.
