Sightseeing

All of a sudden it seems summer is back in town. And we are enjoying it in Edinburgh. This morning we left our B&B and we almost wished it wasn’t so. The lady at the house is just so welcoming and nice, you want to stay because she is so genuinely kind and caring.

But our trip must continue and the drive down to Edinburgh was not very long and pretty OK finding parking in the city was a bit of a nightmare and we officially did a round trip as we started to recognise some of the places we drove past. In the end we found a parking spot Strangely enough they used chipped coins instead of the more usual card system we all know.

Next in line was finding a place to sleep. This turned out to be a  bit of a mission. We wandered through the city and saw many things. We saw the cathedral and walked in and had a little Harry Potter moment as the choice of the queen’s chapel Oxford was singing a free concert. This was really nice and brought the cathedral to life and we stopped to listen for a bit.
After walking around a bit more we found a place with wifi, well sort of…….kinda after they had reset it twice, but never the less we managed to go on line and onto tripadvisor. SO located a nice B&B which we called for the next few nights. The only issue being parking. Oh well. Somehow SO all of a sudden noticed the parking coin was not where he had put it. He took everything out of his pockets and out of his backpack. Even scanning the floor. We slowly changed colour and we tried to think what could have happened. The only thing we could think of was the donation in the cathedral. Did we donate a parking coin instead? It seemed illogical as it was not in his money pocket but it was not in his pocket and backpack – just to unpack everything again.
Right!………….. Back to the cathedral then. I got up and pushed my chair forward and………….. there was the parking coin, under my chair. Phew! That was a relief and a half! No idea how it got there. but we were ever so glad to see it. We really do not want to know what the parking would cost with a lost coin. The prices in Edinburgh are hefty enough even if you have one.

Next we did a sightseeing tour around Edinburgh in an open top double decker bus The weather was so nice that this was so nice.

After that we took to a little pub with terrace for a drink and some reading – just peace and quite for while as we had been very busy in Perth. Around 19.00 we went to our B&B and I have so say the reality is even nicer than the pictures showed. We unloaded the car and the car is now parked a few miles away without fees. We then went out for a small meal in the local pub and even tried our hand at the pub quiz. Though we did have a slight handicap for being Dutch and a team of only 2 (instead of 4 or 5) we did not come last and that we felt was a major achievement.
Just tow more days in Edinburgh and then it is over. We’ll enjoy it though I know we will
