We spent the weekend at my parents place. Mum had had her birthday so we celebrated last night. Spent the night there and spent part of today there. The cutest thing happened then.

One of the things we as a family did fairly often when I was growing ups is to have a large bag of peanuts to shell. Put them out on the news paper and spent an hour or so happily shelling and eating them. One starts, others follow. Peanuts just give that urge.

Mum had bought some this weekend and they were on the table. SO fancied a nibble in the afternoon today and decided to have one. Of course one peanut becomes two peanuts and then three. So a little bowl came out for SO to put the shells in. Dad in the mean time walked over to the newspaper basket and took one out, spread it on the floor, just as he used to do when we were little. While he was in the midst of this the dog got up from her favourite place on the couch and lay opposite dad and as dad was shelling the peanuts he shared his winnings with the dog, who was clearly very used to this set up. It just brought a happy smile to my face.
