Family – ups and downs

The weekend was spent mostly with my parents. My mother had turned 70 and that was cause for a family get together of course.

Nothing major, just out for dinner with parents my brother and his family and two of my parents oldest and best friends and us of course. We went to a nice all you can eat. Not one of those binge places, but where you can order small pieces of meat or fish at the bar and the rest of the food is on the buffet. Given that we had Huey, Dewey, and Louie with us ranging from 12-nearly 17 an all you can eat is the way to go.

The next day SO was busy setting up the computer my parents bought when we visited last month. Again the computer and SO got a little stroppy with each other, but in the end the computer did what it was supposed to do. It did take longer than anticipated though and in the end we stayed for dinner. We’d wanted to leave earlier due to the road closures around the NSS summit but we need not have worried we were home quickly.

When we got home SO took a night cab to recover from his windows afternoon and we went to bed early around 21.00 as we were quite tired. Then the phone rang just as we had put our heads on the pillows. It was FIL informing us that MIL was at casualty/the emergency rooms. In the end it was FIL that went home that night around 03.00. MIL is in hospital for investigations. She is in good spirit though. Needless to say that it was a restless and tiring night for us.

About Gilraen

My blog is simply about my life. I moved countries for the first time in 1993. I lived in the Netherlands, UK and NZ. The initial idea was to keep my overseas friends up-to-date with what was going on in my life. The blog, like me, is always changing and evolving.
