Homeward Bound

All good things must come to an end and so must this fantastic holiday.Yes it was a fantastic holiday. Spectacular countryside, nice people, good food and high levels of activity. It amazing what you can get away with if you end up walking all day. No problem eating full Scottish breakfast, it is gone by midday!

One of the advantages of Inverness is that it has a very small airport that has one flight a day to Amsterdam as a loader to KLM and other major airlines. It is a prop plane (very noisy, bring earplugs next time) and through a low cost carrier, but it is direct.Usually low-cost means a lot of add ons and we were very happy that SO could bring his oversized walking stick at no extra charge – Thank you Flybe!

Inverness airport I have to say is amazing. I like small airports it is more personal and things are easy to locate. This one is very clean and has amazing wifi speeds (honestly!) Seems about 3 gates in total and as a result it is easy to clear security. On the flight we got rid of our last five Scottish Pounds and we arrived save and well at Schiphol airport. From there it was walking to the train station and our direct train arrived within 5 minutes.

When we arrived at home it was 15.30 and we decided to do some food shopping and nothing more. Due to the time difference we ate late and watched the GBBO. It was good to sleep in our beds again, sad to leave Scotland behind though.

About Gilraen

My blog is simply about my life. I moved countries for the first time in 1993. I lived in the Netherlands, UK and NZ. The initial idea was to keep my overseas friends up-to-date with what was going on in my life. The blog, like me, is always changing and evolving.
