Waking up – being asleep

When waking up during the weekend SO and I have a standing routine. The one that wakes up first tries to creep out of bed. Then gets dressed in the dressing area and often closes the bedroom door before switching off the alarm. Usually by that stage the other has woken up and lets the first one know. Number two then gets up and we have breakfast together. It is incredibly rare that we manage to get out of bed and let the other sleep longer.

This Saturday I woke up and as per the above description crept out of bed and got dressed in the most tiptoe manner I can. I noticed the bedroom door being closed, but as we are having a few cold nights at present that is not unusual at the moment. IN the most silent manner I got dressed switched off the alarm and listened if I could hear SO being disturbed. He wasn’t, I was most proud that I had managed that.

As it was Saturday I also took the laundry to the washing machine and sorted it. Started the first load, but as I had managed to evade waking SO I put the machine in extended start i.e. it would start an hour later. I moved to the living area and opened the curtains and kept listening if I could hear any movement upstairs. None! I congratulated myself on my achievement.

Then I walked into the kitchen to make myself the much deserved morning coffee and noticed the coffee machine still being switched on. I muttered inside something to the effect of it not having been SO’s best evening check, and then all of a sudden realised that the jug contained about a mug full of coffee and a mug was in front of it. Slowly I turned around and saw SO there; hands in his side and with a smug very amused look on his face.

Only then I realised that he’d been the succesful creeper out of bed and not me. So we had a good laugh and then as per usual had breakfast together.

My blog is simply about my life. I moved countries for the first time in 1993. I lived in the Netherlands, UK and NZ. The initial idea was to keep my overseas friends up-to-date with what was going on in my life. The blog, like me, is always changing and evolving.
